One of the most functional and versatile items of furniture you can own, a chest of drawers can be used in many different areas of your home.  For example:

  • In the bedroom.  Clothing, linens and other personal items can all be stored in a bedroom dresser.  You can select a chest with as few as three drawers to one with as many as nine or ten drawers for the ultimate in storage.  If space allows, small chests can even do double duty as a nightstand or bedside table.
  • In the dining room.  Most dining areas will benefit from having both serving and storage space.  A chest offers plenty of drawer storage for tablecloths and napkins, placemats, utensils and even items like candles and flatware.  The top will provide space for a lamp and pretty accessories that can be moved out of the way during mealtime when food needs to be displayed.  Make sure to protect the finish of the top of the chest from hot plates and spills.
  • In the foyer.  A beautiful chest of drawers is the perfect solution for a busy foyer.  Everyday items like scarves and gloves can be stored in the drawers for easy and quick access along with other necessities such as the daily mail and keys.
  • In the living room.  When used as a media unit in the living or family room, a chest of drawers can support the television as well as provide storage space in the drawers for remotes, games, DVD’s, chargers, cords etc.

There are many different styles of chests to choose from.  A gentleman often uses a tallboy for clothing storage while a pretty bombe chest may be the perfect choice for a feminine bedroom or dressing area.

Specialized chests like a lingerie chest provide storage for a specific purpose, in this case lingerie.  The drawers are small and narrow, making it easy to store scarves, nighties and other unmentionables all in one spot.  Some chests will also have a door that hides storage shelves along with two or three drawers.  Other chests and dressers offer extra wide drawers for larger items like jeans and slacks or even blankets and sheets.  There is truly something for everyone when it comes to finding a chest of drawers to meet all of your storage needs.
